The day I found out
On Sunday September 10, I found out that I was pregnant. It was about 3:00 a.m. I couldn't sleep, and I had been having some early signs that I might be pregnant. After tossing and turning for what seemed hours, I got up and took a home pregnancy test.
While waiting for the outcome, I kept my eyes glued to the results window. The "plus" sign (meaning positive) slowly faded in, and I kept blinking my eyes to make sure I wasn't dreaming or delusional--after all it was 3:00 in the morning. An uncontrollable smile crept across my face. Yep, it was positive--which made sleeping not an option for the rest of the night. I let Mike continue to sleep. Later, I would find out that all my restlessness and moving around in our apartment did not even stir him. My Fair Lady was in the DVD player in our living room, so I quietly made my way to the couch and turned on the TV. While munching on an apple, I tried to let the news sink in.
At around 7:00 a.m., Mike finally woke up. He could immediately tell something was up from the way I was acting. Mike told me I was acting fidgety and nervous. I tried to change the subject, because I wanted to come up with a creative way of telling him. But he wasn't buying it. He insisted I tell him what's wrong or what's going on. So, I let him know.
"Seriously, dude, tell me what's going on," he asked.
"Fine, I'll tell you! I'm pregnant." I shouted as I dramatically threw myself on the other side of the bed.
The next thing I heard from Mike was him jokingly ask, "Is it mine?"
After some moments of silence and with a smile on his face he asked another question, "So......what do we do now?" Good question. I wasn't really sure either. However, I did remember that I was hungry.
We raced to the computer to start "Googling" information on babies. Not that I hadn't spent time researching this stuff, but it was now a reality!
